Barrett Martin is the former drummer of Screaming Trees and he currently plays with Mad Season, Walking Papers, and Tuatara. The album ''Atlas'' is part 1 of a 2 part CD series containing instrumental compositions based on Barrett's travels around the world. The music is alternately meditative and melodic, as well as ferociously rhythmic, harnessing the power of a 7 piece band that grooves like Fela Kuti backing up a 1970s era Miles Davis.
