This is a perfect idea for a recording project. In a sparkling and consistently delightful solo set, Dave McKenna performs 11 of Hoagy Carmichael's finest compositions, including a medley of "Skylark" and "Georgia on My Mind." With the exception of "One Morning in May," "Moon Country," and "Come Easy, Go Easy Love," all of the numbers rank with Carmichael's greatest hits, but McKenna's renditions of such familiar tunes as "Stardust," "The Nearness of You," and "Lazy River" are full of subtle surprises and his special brand of swing. Highly recommended.
